3 Steps to Create Animating Arrows in Diagrams
You might have already seen diagrams with animated lines. Although I doubt the added value of this kind of animation for lines with arrows (as I don’t think the animation contains information that the arrow does not), I assume that many are curious about how it is done. There are a number of ways to achieve that. Some require insallation of applications.
In this post, I would like to show you how you can achieve line animation on your diagrams without the need to install any application. All you need is to browse draw.io to create the animated line. Then you screen-capture it using powerpoint’s screen recording. Finally, you export the powerpoint diagram to gif. You can then embed the resulting gif file in your presentations. Below are specific steps to do it:
Step 1) Creating the dashed (dotted) arrow on draw.io
Add an arrow, select how dotted it should be, then select the arrow, go to propoerties, check Flow Animation. Now you should see your arrow animation.
Step 2) Capture the animation using powerpoint
Insert -> Media -> Screen Recording.
Step 3) Export the animated diagram as Gif
Save As -> Gif
You will finally get the diagram with animated lines that you can embed into your presentations or website.
